Life is bustling with activity—busy schedules, family activities, and gatherings with your loved ones. To keep up, having smart home devices that seamlessly integrate into your daily routine is crucial. The ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera (wired) is designed to do just that, enhancing your home’s security while fitting effortlessly into your lifestyle. Ready to take your doorbell to the next level? Here are three clever tips to help you get the most out of your ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera.

1. Customize Activity Zone: Tailor Alerts to Your Home

No one enjoys being bombarded with notifications for every single passing vehicle or stray animal. With Activity Zone, you can customize the area your doorbell camera monitors, focusing on what truly matters. This feature allows you to set specific zone around your front door or driveway, ensuring you only get notified about important events, like a package delivery or a visitor.

Here's How to Set It Up:

  1. Open the ecobee app on your smartphone.
  2. Tap on your doorbell camera card > Settings > Detection and tap the Activity Zones option.
  3. Tap edit to customize your zone directly on the camera view.

By setting up Activity Zone, you can filter out unnecessary detections, allowing you to stay informed without the distraction of irrelevant notifications.

2. Fine-Tune Detection Range: Find Your Perfect Balance

Every home has its unique layout, which means that a one-size-fits-all approach to detection settings doesn’t always work. The ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera allows you to adjust its detection range to suit your specific needs. Whether your front door is close to the sidewalk or set back a bit, fine-tuning the detection range ensures you capture the right amount of activity.

Adjusting the Detection Range:

  1. Go to Settings > Detection > Detection Range in the ecobee app.
  2. Slide the detection range slider to customize how far your camera “sees.”

This feature helps you strike the perfect balance, catching important activity while minimizing unnecessary alerts.

3. Utilize Do Not Disturb Mode: Enjoy Peace and Quiet

There are times when you need to enjoy some uninterrupted downtime, such as during family movie nights or social gatherings. Leverage your phone’s Do Not Disturb mode that lets you pause notifications, so you can focus on your moments without being disturbed by alerts.

Activating Do Not Disturb Mode on iPhone

  1. When you receive the notification from ecobee, swipe left and tap on the Options menu
  2. Mute notifications for an hour or the whole day, whatever suits you the best

Activating Do Not Disturb Mode on Android:

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications / Sounds and Vibration > Do not disturb.
  2. Toggle on Do not disturb.
  3. Determine how long you want DND on – Until I turn it off, for 1 hour or other duration. You can also schedule your DND to be automatically activated

This mode is perfect for moments when you need a break from constant updates yet want peace of mind knowing your doorbell is still actively monitoring your home. With ecobee's Smart Security subscription, you can trust that any urgent activity will be detected and reported. Plus, if you prefer to catch up later, you can easily review your history or activity feed at your convenience, ensuring you stay informed without being overwhelmed.

Make Your Doorbell Truly Yours

Your home should feel like a well-oiled machine, allowing you to focus on the things that truly matter. The ecobee Smart Doorbell Camera is designed to blend seamlessly into your life, offering a range of features to enhance your home’s security while accommodating your busy lifestyle. By customizing Activity Zone, adjusting the Detection Range, and utilizing the Do Not Disturb mode, you can ensure your doorbell is working perfectly for you.
